“COP 18 is an absolute strategic opportunity for countries of the Gulf Region to show a
commitment to managing climate change and exploring cleaner energy sources”
Christiana Figueres,
Executive Secretary
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

With this quote in mind, my team and I proceeded to designing a logo for Conference of Parties 18 (COP 18), which was held in Doha in 2012. We combined symbolism representing the strength of nature, the importance of its sustainable growth and the host country’s culture.
Home Grown

COP 18 is about growth. Growth of our commitment going forward to improve sustainability through the Doha Amendment, growth among the member nations, and finally growth of vision in the Arabic world, amid not only climate change but a shift in the mood of the people in the region. Embracing change and committing to open dialogue is the way forward and upward.

Growing Green

The icon paints with a natural green colour palette to indicate its definitive commitment to the environment.

Final Logo
Branching out

We created a dynamic and exciting brand concept that captures the beauty and vibrancy of Arabic art enabling it to be flexible within a framework, in the same way that thinking on climate change must adapt and develop while remaining rooted to its core values.
